Event Description
The concept of race continues to shape our (mis)understanding of human diversity. In this session, speakers will discuss how race and intersecting social variables of sex, gender, and disability are uncritically accepted as biological reality. They will discuss the harmful societal impacts of medical knowledge and practices permeated with bias and misinformation. They will explore racism, eugenics, sex and gender essentialism and offer suggestions for how to change medical school curricula. Speakers include: Dr. Andrea Deyrup, Dr. Alan Goodman, Dr. Joseph L. Graves Jr., Dr. Kayla Retallick, and Dr. Carina Seah.
