Event Description
Advancing inclusive research and education for minoritized people is crucial to advancing health equity. In this session, we will explore intersectional identities and lived experiences of people who identify as LGBTQ+, disabled, historically excluded racial and ethnic groups, and women. We will discuss the power of language and categorizing people as “less than” in terms of historical and continuing legacies of eugenics and sterilization, reproductive and disability justice, LGBTQ+, and racial health inequities. We will also reflect on the need for inclusive awareness, action, and practices in research, education, and patient care to advance health equity for persons with disabilities, LGBTQ+, marginalized racial and ethnic groups, and intersecting identities. Speakers include Dr. Carey Roth Bayer, Dr. Alexandra Minna Stern, and Dr. Lisa Meeks.
