Health Equity and Justice: From Concept to Action (SEA Change Webinar)
Date/Time
10/2/2024
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM Eastern
Event Description
Part of the : SEA Change Biomedicine Learning Series
Panelists include Dr. Paula Braveman, Dr. Jenna Lester, and Prof. Ruqaiijah Yearby.

The terms health equity, health disparities, health inequities, and health justice are increasingly used in fields of health and medicine and more broadly. In this session, panelists will discuss the meanings and uses of these terms in general and in specific contexts, and why they matter.

Dr. Braveman will consider the meanings of health equity, Dr. Lester will share her experiences with diversifying dermatology in the context of dermatological disparities, and Prof. Yearby will explain how addressing health inequities is related to health justice. Together, they will explore the necessity of impacted communities leading the creation, implementation, and evaluation of interventions aimed at addressing structural racism and achieving healthier, more just communities.

We will reserve plenty of time for audience Q&A; feel free to submit questions for the panelists in advance via the registration page. You do not need to have completed the learning series to attend the panel discussions.

Each panel discussion will be recorded and added to the learning series for future viewing.
