Event Description
Are you an individual or part of an organization outside the formal school system that provides meaningful science learning experiences connected to real-world applications? As Kentucky advances the United We Learn vision, we know vibrant learning happens when schools and communities work together. Community organizations, informal educators and industry partners play a critical role in helping students connect science to authentic, local experiences. Join us for the Second Annual Day of Science Learning for Community Based Educators hosted by the Kentucky Department of Education. This dynamic networking experience centers collaboration, shared responsibility and high-quality science education in service of Kentucky students. Together, we will explore how strong community partnerships provide vibrant, relevant learning experiences that connect classroom instruction to the local context.
Participants will:
- Deepen our shared understanding of the Kentucky Academic Standards for Science
- Explore high-quality instructional resources that support three-dimensional learning
- Collaborate to build local phenomena bundles that ground science instruction in authentic Kentucky contexts
- Strengthen partnerships that advance vibrant science learning across communities
By intentionally aligning community experiences with classroom instruction, we can amplify impact, reduce fragmentation and ensure students experience science as relevant, connected and meaningful.
